Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is an American television journalist anchor and anchor and commentator on NBC News based in Washington D.C. Growing up living in New York City, Mitchell obtained a bachelor's degree in English literature from the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began working as a TV and radio reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. In 1976 she was a part of the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV which was based in Washington DC (then WTOP). She was hired by NBC News Washington two years after that as an general reporter. Beginning in 1981, she began reporting on the White House. In 1988, she became head of the congressional reporters. She was made Chief White House correspondent in 1992. and chief foreign affairs Correspondent for NBC News. Mitchell hosted and was panelists on the TV show Meet the Press. Mitchell was on an audience for the 1988 debates between George Bush (then president) and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married with Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded her Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in the John F. Kennedy School of Government. In 2004, Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) recognized Mitchell for her contribution in the defense of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began covering in the White House in 1981-1988, in both the Reagan presidency. Mitchell reported on a variety of important stories including the Iran Contra scandal, fiscal tax reforms, as well as arms control. Mitchell traveled together with Ronald Reagan on numerous occasions for summits, and to discuss issues such as that of the Iran Contra scandal.
