Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, better known by her stage name of Ari Lennox, is an American artist and performer born in Washington, D.C., who was the first female to sign with J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. Dreamville Records released her debut EP, Pho, in October of 2016 when she began to gain recognition. The album that she released as her debut studio album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox uploaded her songs online in 2012 when she released the Five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. Ari Lennox continued to post her music on the internet, as well as her own single Bound. The song was included in Omen's Elephant Eyes, from Sweat It Out, on July 21 in 2015. J. Cole was interested in her talents and was keen to collaborate with Rihanna. The official signing ceremony was held to Dreamville Records on 8 December. Backseat was a track she performed alongside Cozz on The Revenge of the Dreamers II collaborative album. The 21st of October, 2016, the EP Pho debuted. Ari Lennox appeared in J. Cole's Change track and also opened with the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. In 2018, she appeared as a guest performer on two tracks, including the EarthGang's Nothing but the Best song and Bas's Icarus. Ari Lennox, on the 16th of July in 2018, released her first single "Whipped Cream" from Shea Butter Baby. The music video was released on September 5th. The 9th of November saw her release two more singles called 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. On November 13 two new singles titled No One and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby. Shea Butter Baby later made appearances as a guest on Creed II album soundtrack alongside Cole. The singer released the track as a single in order to announce her debut album Creed II on 26 February 2019. A music video was released on 20 February 2019 to go along with the track. Within the first week, it had over 3,000,000 views. As a supporting act, she toured together with 6LACK in December of 2018 for The From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
